FAQ
The questions we get asked most.
How do I know if you're the right therapist for me?
Start with a free 15-minute phone consultation. You'll get a sense of how I work, and I'll get a sense of what you need. If we're not a good fit, I'll help you find a specialist who is. The reproductive mental health community in LA is small and connected.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. Most clients pay the session fee at the time of service, and I provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement (often 50–80% depending on your plan).
Before our first session, I recommend calling your insurance and asking: (1) Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? (2) What is my out-of-network deductible and how much have I met? (3) What percentage of out-of-network outpatient mental health visits do you reimburse? (4) Do I need pre-authorization?
What does a session cost?
Fees vary by session type (individual, couple, group) and are discussed during the consultation. I'm transparent about fees and reduced-fee availability is limited but possible. Please ask. Payment is accepted by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and debit.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. I see clients across California and Texas via secure video sessions. Telehealth is especially valuable during the postpartum months, IVF cycles, or any season when leaving the house is a lot. Both offices remain available for in-person sessions.
How often will we meet?
Weekly to start, in most cases. For deeper psychodynamic work, weekly creates the consistency the work depends on. Some clients move to every other week later. Couples therapy is also typically weekly, especially in the first few months.
How long does therapy take?
It depends on what we're working on. Some clients come for a specific season (a postpartum stretch, a fertility cycle, a grief) and finish in three to nine months. Others stay for years of deeper relational work. We talk openly about pace and progress along the way.
Do you work with partners and couples?
Yes. I see couples, and I often see one partner individually while occasionally bringing in the other for specific work. Many fertility, postpartum, loss, and menopause-related issues involve the partnership, and we treat that as part of the work.
What if I'm in crisis right now?
If you are in immediate crisis, please call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. For perinatal-specific crisis support, the Postpartum Support International helpline is 1-800-944-4773. Therapy is not a substitute for emergency care.
Will what I share stay private?
Yes. Sessions are confidential under California and Texas law and HIPAA. There are limited legal exceptions (mandated reporting of child or elder abuse, and imminent danger), and I'll walk through those with you at the start.
